Theme: Creating Small Content Sites

April 30, 2007

Mini Sites…That’s the name that is given to sites that are small content sites. They are websites that are created with a total of maybe twelve articles and they are just left there to potentially earn. Maybe they make you a dollar or two a day, maybe not even that. That’s not a problem really. The reason being is because if you have five or ten of them each making two bucks a day, that’s ten or twenty dollars a day. You’re bound to get an adsense check at the end of the month because of those twenty dollar days. But, how exactly do you create a small content site? A mini site?

It’s rather simple. You go to a domain register company (click here if you don’t know what that is) and get a domain name. You get hosting as well and make sure all of that technical stuff is out of the way. Now, the slightly more difficult part is making the website. This can take some time and if you have no PHP skills or HTML skills, it’s damn near impossible. Fortunately, there are a series of scripts and templates that you can use to make your website. I will write a blog post about them in the future, but for now, let’s stick to just these sites.

The next step is to create the articles. Write unique content. There are people that use free articles and just try to populate the site with as many articles as they can get. However, unique content does better in the search engines, so try and stick to that. Write as many as you want. The more articles you have, the more potential visitors you can get because each article is about a different topic. You upload these articles and then plug in some adsense codes and voila, you have got the content site. However, how do you make money from no traffic?

Write another article about the site topic and give it to article databases. When someone uses the article, you get a link back to your site. This could drive traffic to your site, thus making it potentially earn money. I will write a blog post all about different ways to get traffic to your site. Now, the final thing you need to decide is what you want to do with the site. Do you want to make those couple of dollars a day (maybe) or do you want the quick money? There are loads of people that are willing to pay money for these content sites, no matter how new they are. You could sell a twelve article site for probably $130 depending on the topic. So, you need to decide what you want to do. Content sites are the bulk of the web. Is there money to be made? Yes. But you need to just try and get it! Good luck.

Theme: The Power of Myspace

April 29, 2007

Did you know that you could easily make money just by having a myspace account? And no, I am not talking about spamming the hell out of your friends or ANY of that. What I am talking about is using it to help get your site well known. Assume that you made a blog all about the New York Yankees. Well, naturally, the Yankees are a very well known baseball team and there are millions and millions of Yankees fans. That’s great for them. Unfortunately for you, getting people to see your new fan site can become rather difficult. That’s where myspace comes in.

You go to myspace and you create an account. You get a skin or a theme that is all New York Yankees. In the about me section, tell the people who you are and tell them how you are the owner of a new fan site and give them the link. Just by doing this, you are providing a way for people to see the site. However, you won’t get anywhere without having friends, right? That’s where you go and start joining different New York Yankee groups. You start to add person after person that loves the New York Yankees. You continue to grow your network of friends. Once you do this, the fun can really begin.

Say the Yankees won a very important game. You write up a post about it in your blog and then go to your account and post a bulletin. In that bulletin, you talk about the game a bit and then tell them to click on a link (that leads back to your blog) for more information on it. That will get instant traffic for you. Now, if you are running adsense on it or something, you might see yourself really getting some clicks because chances are, the ads are Yankee related and Yankee fans start to really get excited. So, now you’re getting more traffic to your blog, you’re getting more clicks and you’re seeing an increase in growth.

I use myspace traffic to advertise two of my other sites. The first is my arcade site because people just love arcades. The other is my science forum because I know that people love science. By using myspace, I am able to find people that are interested in my particular site that would otherwise never find it. For small sites that are trying to grow that won’t appear in search engines right away, myspace is an amazing method of getting people. Try it out if you have recently made a blog or forum or website that you are trying to get well known. It might very well get you some initial income for a nice growth! Good luck.
