Yesterday, I talked about increasing your search engine ranking just by using your blog. And it is true, you can easily do it by linking to the correct text. However, there is another way that you can do it by using the method of anchor texts. You might be wondering, “another one!?” That’s right. There is yet another way to get more links to your site; however, this method is slightly dangerous. I will explain the danger of it later in the post. However, right now, let me talk about how you can get your ranking increased just by sponsoring a wordpress theme.

If you look at sites such as free wordpress themes, you’ll see a lot of different uploaded themes. And the thing that a lot of these themes have on the bottom of them are “sponsored by: link 1 link 2 link 3″ except that these links are not labeled like that, but they are to different websites. What that is called is a sponsor. What the designer did was take the theme and bid those links off. So, why would people want them, you may be asking? Because there are so many damn blogs out there, the chances of your theme getting downloaded is very high. Get a lot of downloads and you’re suddenly getting more and more links. How does this help?

It helps by giving you two things. The first is that as the PR of their blog goes up, it means that they are giving you a stronger back link to your site. So, this is naturally good if you are trying to increase your pagerank, which you want to do if you are trying to sell links. However, there is another thing that you can do and I bet you don’t even realize it. You can use these sponsors to get tons of back links using your correct anchor text! That’s right! If you want to get ranked for “mafia games,” then if you put that as the anchor, all of those links will help increase your ranking. That’s just a great thing because it’ll mean more traffic.

There are some worries, though. If you get too many links to your site at one time, Google begins to get a little questionable about the validity of those links. If you get too many in one day, you wind up getting sandboxed. What this means is they completely remove you from the search engines and your traffic becomes absolutely nothing from them. Why does this suck? Because you need that traffic. The more organic, search engine traffic you can push to your site, the more likely you’re going to get clicks and the more likely your site is going to grow. It takes time, but go with small amounts of links rather than tons of them all at once.

I have been talking a lot about increasing your search engine ranking, but that is because I am beginning to realize that I need to get more organic traffic to my sites if I am going to really start making money for college. I have to pay for my tuition if I am unable to afford it and while this isn’t all that bad since my college is giving me amazing amounts of money, I would rather have the money than have to go take loans out. SEO is very important. Search engine optimization is a skill that everyone should learn, at least the basics. We’re here to grow and knowing HOW to grow is one of the most important things you can do.

If you remember my post a while back about internal linking, you’d remember that I said it was a great way to get people to stay on your site. And that is very true. For every link that you have, it keeps the person there. It keeps them from leaving because they go from one story to the next story to the next story to the next story. If you have done your deep linking properly, they might read five or six stories. So for ONE unique visitor, you got five or six page impressions. And to sign up for some publishing companies, you need to have a minimum number of impressions. So impressions are important. However, you can also increase your rank on the search engines with these links.

I have seen people, when they link to an article, just type: to read this article, click here. And then at here, they will click and continue on your blog. That’s great. However, that does nothing to help you really increase your search engine ranking. Now, how do you suppose people get onto the first page of Google for the term “Brittney Spears?” They used the term Brittney Spears when they were typing out their links. Every single link that went to that website or that article had the anchor text “Brittany Spears.” After a while, they begin to rank better and better for that term. It really is phenomenal. And it can make your site all the better.

Now, how can you increase the rank of your site just by using your blog? Well, I am going to tell you. There are two ways…The second I will explain at the end, but the first, let me explain right now. Say you wrote an article about adsense. You could use the terms making money with adsense and then link to the article with those four words. I’ve demonstrated, so click it if you wish to see. By doing this, you allowed yourself not only to get someone to go to that page, but you also used keywords that someone might search for in the future. And if you have enough of them, when they search for those keywords, your site or your article might be on the first page and might even be the first result. That would guarantee a large amount of traffic to your site hands down.

The second way is a little promotion that I am doing. Because I am looking to rank for a particular term on the search engines, I am going to offer a link to anybody that wants one with ANY term they want. All you need to do for me is write a paragraph linking to my blog. However, you can’t just link to it putting DormEarning.com. I want you to link to it with the terms: “making money in college.” Use those terms, link to my blog, and any other articles you may want to, post a comment here, and I will link back to your blog using ANY terms you want. They can even be making money in college if you want. But I will use any terms you want to link back. A link for a link. It’s pretty simple, don’t you think? Try it out…You may find yourself at better search engine placement each and every time.
