Theme: BlogRush Does Their Audit
October 22, 2007If you remember back to last month, I talked about BlogRush and their way of promotion. They offered a widget that as people saw your widget, articles you wrote would appear on other blog’s widgets. Basically, the more traffic, the more people, that viewed your widget, the more people that would, in turn, see your articles on other blog’s widgets. It was a phenomenal tool that really allowed for people to get a considerable amount of traffic; or so they had thought. Unfortunately, people cheated the system and they needed to clean it up. I got an e-mail today saying that 10,000 blogs were removed from the system. Is that good? Well, yes and no.
I want to say it is great because now my article may just naturally appear more often because there are less crummy articles appearing. Since there are less crummy articles appearing, my articles might be clicked more often, thus sending more traffic to my blog, which in turn sends more traffic to the widget which gets me more traffic. However, I say that it is not so good because some rather LARGE blogs were kicked from the program. One in particular that I think was unfairly kicked from the system was JohnCow.com. I think that, if I look at the way the TOS was written, Cow fits into the right type of blog. Granted, there is some considerable amount of advertising on the blog, but I don’t think it takes away from the widget.
However, I do think that BlogRush as a whole is a great tool. I think that as people sign up with genuinely strong blogs, it will mean only greater things. The people that were hurt the most in this audit, I believe, are those that write ‘make money online’ blogs. I am not sure why I was able to get through the audit, but it might have something to do with my limited amount of advertising. But, the question remains: should we remove advertising to get accepted into a program like BlogRush or is it better to do what you want and if you’re not accepted, oh well, such is life, move on? I am a firm believer in being your own controlling factor. Nothing else should get in the way of your profitability. Regardless, I am a firm beleiver that BlogRush is a great system and I highly recommend EVERYONE sign up for it. BlogRush is good. It means traffic. Isn’t that what we all want?
