Being a student is a costly exercise. There are lots of expenses coming from every which way and not many opportunities to earn income. If you are in dire need of emergency funds, you can turn to same day loans. These will provide you with finance far quicker than what a bank would.

Theme: Blogging Is Like Football

September 9, 2007

I was watching the New York Giants game tonight and I had a bit of a disappointment with the way that the Giants played. Manning did his job exceptionally and really got the ball where it was meant to go time and time again. However, the defense was not on par and that is something that really disappointed me. But, it also provoked a blog post, so let me explain how blogging is like football. Consider that the offense is the content that you write for your blog and the defense is the way that you promote your blog.

So, you have got the content and you have got an exceptional game going for you. Every day, you punch out an awesome article, your QB is throwing the ball where it belongs, and your team continues to rack up points. That’s great, you’re doing exactly what you should be doing. You are writing interesting, unique, compelling content and that is great. You go down the field and BAM, you score a touchdown. Great, now you’re winning the game. Except, there’s one problem…You kick the ball and they return twenty yards and on comes their offense. And with that comes your defense. And here’s the problem…

Immediately, your defense is growing lackadaisical. Their offense is running all over you, scoring touchdown after touchdown and no matter how good your offense is, you continue to lose. Your content is exceptional, but then your defense blows it. Like I said, your defense is your ways of promoting your blog. In the end, you lose the game. No matter how amazing your content is, no matter how awesome your offense is doing on the field, you lose the game because your promotion, your defense, just does a horrible job with their half of the game.

Blogging comes in two parts just like Football comes in two parts. The first part is the importance of an exceptional offense or exceptional content. The second part is the importance of an exceptional defense or exceptional promotion. If you are spending your entire time writing content, who is going to read the content? Content is King, but if there is anything else, traffic is QUEEN. You need traffic if you are going to make money. The content is not going to click on the ads or make your site look so much bigger. The only thing that will do that is traffic.

Here is what I recommend you do. If you are running a blog and only want to work for three hours of the day, spend one of those hours writing content. If you can get two blog posts time stamped a day, that will be good enough to really develop a following. For those other two hours of the day that you are working, get out there and start commenting on blogs. Comment on blogs left and right with GOOD comments. Make people see that what you are saying is interesting and they may check it out. Voila, you are beginning to build traffic to your site.

To have a successful football team, you need to have a strong defense and you need to have a strong offense. To succeed as a blogger, you need to have strong, interesting content and you need to have strong marketing/promoting skills. Promoting a blog is not all that hard. Get out there and get yourself known and you are going to find that profits start rolling in. The most important part of your blog is getting people to it. Content will keep them, but more so than anything, you need to get them there and that is what the promoting is for. So for every three hours of blogging, one hour should be for content and two should be for promoting.
