For stock tips and mutual fund tips, I've found this stock website to be very useful!
Being a student is a costly exercise. There are lots of expenses coming from every which way and not many opportunities to earn income. If you are in dire need of emergency funds, you can turn to same day loans. These will provide you with finance far quicker than what a bank would.

Theme: What I Think of Microsoft Buying Yahoo!

February 6, 2008

As you already probably know, Microsoft offered to purchase Yahoo! for a whopping $44.6 billion, hoping that they would be able to purchase the slowly dying company and try and use it to really give them a massive market in the search engine business. There is no denying that Microsoft feels threatened by Google and because of that, they are willing to pay so much money. And, according to Reuters, they are willing to pay even MORE money than what they offered, probably up to $34 per share of Yahoo! stock, really giving investors in Yahoo! a great motive.

I am not an investor in Yahoo! and I am not an investor in Microsoft. So, the way I see it, there is nothing that I can gain stock wise from this sort of a purchase and if it never happened, there’d be no change in my life when it came to the stock market. I’m an Intel owner, which reminds me, I need to diversify. Anyways…My point is when it comes to being an investor in Yahoo! or Microsoft, frankly, this means absolutely nothing to me and I could care less. But!!!!!! I do care. Why?

Microsoft owning Yahoo! would mean that the two weaker companies suddenly become one very STRONG company. What does this mean? Yahoo! has a moderately decent search engine and Microsoft has a moderately decent search engine. In essence, if the two teams worked together and creating one super powered search engine, this would really attack Google. Why do I care about this? Because Google has been screwing people over a lot recently and when there is competition, companies fight harder to keep you.

This means something else and it really has to do with how Google has been screwing us over. When it comes to Adsense, God damn, we really are having a hard time making money. People are reporting all time lows. They are changing their affiliate set up. All in all, people are getting fed up with the way things are going and I am sure that if there was a program as equal to Adsense, people would flock to it and that, ladies and gentlemen, is what I am anticipating.

The way I see it is if this: Adcenter and Yahoo! Publisher join together into one super program. They bring all their advertisers together under one roof and by doing that, offer better targeted ads for publishers. Then, when we go sign up, we are not banned for the ads not converting like was the case with Yahoo! Publisher. What does this mean? It means that there is competition to Google. If this hybrid Adcenter/Yahoo! Publisher were to offer incredible commissions to their publishers, or just something that was more than Adsense, people would flock and Google would panic. And if Google panicked, that would force them to raise their commissions.

I hope that Microsoft does get Yahoo!. It would bring such competition against Google that they would be forced to take a loss with the hopes of potentially gaining more in the end. I hope that Microsoft can get Yahoo! I really do. But, if not, oh well. Like I said, I don’t have anything directly influenced from it. But, the competition against Google would benefit the little guy like me and others. So, we will have to wait and see how that goes. I’m just hoping for the best.
