The Google Slappings are all done. Now the update has come and I have to say, for me, things actually look pretty good with the update. There is only one problem about the update. It is ENTIRELY IRRELEVANT! Page Rank never really meant anything for webmasters other than the power to sell links. So, I don’t really understand why it is so important now that Google is penalizing people for buying/selling links. Regardless, it has happened.
A lot of my friends have seen a great reduction in their Page Rank, but all of us have the exact same mentality about it: who cares? Now that we aren’t allowed to sell links, why should we really care? Why should we even bother dealing with it? The point is…Page Rank used to make people so happy, but until it has relevance in the search results, no one is going to really be anxious about it unless they are link sellers. And, they’re bound to lose it regardless. So, DormEarning went to PR3, but it means nothing. Oh well!

If you have not been around the web all that much these passed few days, you’ll know that Google has been removing the PR of a considerable number of people. Some blogs that have definitely been messed with are JohnChow.com and ProBlogger.net. They had, I believe, PR6 blogs and now they are down to PR4. Is this detrimental or are they going to be able to survive from the very unfortunate and some would say, incredibly unexpected response from Google for the sale of links. But, then there is a certain question that comes up…
If ProBlogger was not selling links, why did he lose his Page Rank? There are a couple of speculations out there pertaining to why he lost it. The first is that he required a link back to his blog for ONE of the contests and I believe that may have irritated Google. The second reason is that he did not have adsense on his blog anymore and that could have irritated Google. Could it be the first or the last? Could this be a way of Google trying to get more money from adsense or adwords?
This last thought comes up because of WidgetBucks losing its ranking in the search engines. If you look, WidgetBucks does not exist at all on the search engine anymore EXCEPT as a paid ad. If they are willing to spend the money, they can be seen, but not naturally in the search engines. Could ALL of this really be some sort of a ploy to make more money for Google? Google has been knocking a lot of big time blogs down in PR. A lot of sites are disappearing from the results. Is Google trying to make more money? Is that all this has become? Does Google care about their search engine results or just how much money they can make? WHY is Google removing the PR of so many bloggers? Why?
