College is a place of learning. You know that. Moreover, you should try to learn not only from your professors but from your classmates. Glean from the wisdom of others rather than brutal personal experience. I go on this tangent because I want to share with you some information I have gained over the years.
In college you must electronically submit papers to be scanned for plagiarism. These documents most likely must be in .doc format. The most popular program to write in this format is Microsoft Word. However, most laptops and student computers sold today do not come with a full program of Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office for students costs over $100. I am here to tell you that you do have options.
On the Internet you can download a program called OpenOffice. OpenOffice is a freeware program that allows you to create text documents, presentations, and databases in the most popular formats. It also allows you to open all .docs created with Microsoft Word. There are only small instances where the formatting does not completely transfer. If you only use Microsoft Word for writing term papers, why pay over $100 when you can get the same program for free?
I encourage you to try out OpenOffice and see if it fits your needs. There is no harm done in merely trying the program as it is a freeware program with no catches. (Note: If you run a Mac and do not want to install X11 on your OS, try NeoOffice. It is a Mac version of OpenOffice and available through the Apple website. It too is free and what I am running on this laptop.)

Not only are we about MAKING money, but we’re also about saving money. Saving money is one of the greatest things you can do as a webmaster because of how important it is to have money for other investments. The same reason that big businesses do things for tax incentives, we do them on the web to save a couple of dollars. Those couple of dollars could be used for something else. What I have is a way to save 15% on a link purchased through Text-Link-Ads for the LIFE of that link. That sounds pretty damn cool, huh? That’s because it is.
Let’s say you decide you want to buy a link on a site that charges $100.00 a month. That’s a lot of money, right? Well, if you type in the word “august” in the promotion box, you will get 15% off. Now, let’s keep going with the scenario that you’ve just bought a $100.00 link with that fifteen percent off. That means that the link now will always cost you only $85.00 so long as you continue to pay for it each and every month. Now, first month you save $15.00. Second month, as you cumulatively add your savings up, you’ve now saved $30.00. Let’s skip to ONE year. You’ve just saved yourself $180.00. That’s some nice money to be saved.
If you’re unsure of what Text-Link-Ads is, I highly recommend signing up for it. If you sign up by clicking here, you can get $100.00 in free links. The only thing you need to do is spend $25.00 more on that link. So, let’s say that you want to get, for one month, a $125.00 link. For $25.00, that link is yours. That can really give you a great boost in traffic and probably a nice, strong back link to your site that you could really use. All for $25.00. So, if you think about it, whether you’re new to Text-Link-Ads or you’re old to the site, you’ve just found a way for you to save money. And since we’re all about saving money, it’s a good way, huh?
