Earning Money

I have been playing guitar now for two years, but I stopped for a long stretch of time and now that I am playing again, I am realizing that there are some parallels to playing guitar and earning on the web. And, since my friend Chris and I are teaching my friend Mark how to play, it got me thinking more and more. When you earn on the web, you start small and really know how to do nothing. But, then you really start to do good and as time goes on, you begin to make more and more money. Well, in a sense, you can compare that to playing guitar and this is how.

When I first started playing guitar, I learned a few basic chords: the Am, C, G, F, and G. It was the start of a Santana song. And when I was able to start playing those chords perfectly, I was so excited. I was already counting the millions of dollars I’d make as a rock star and everything. And, I think that is the same thing that a lot of us small time earners do. We get so excited when we get our first Google check and we run around saying, “alright, ladies and gentlemen, we are now the next big internet millionaires!” And it’s true. We get so excited.

And then times goes on and we begin to learn other chords, but we realize we are not going to be a rock star for an incredibly long time. We realize that it is going to be so much harder, but we continue to go. And as time goes on, we suddenly start to play in bars. And then clubs. And then finally, we are the star. And the same goes for earning on the web. As time goes on, those $100 checks turn into $200 checks and then $400 checks and soon enough, we’re really rolling in the dough. As time goes on, we become the star and we become the top web earner.

Playing guitar takes time and dedication. Earning on the web takes time and dedication. If you have the time and if you have the dedication, you can do both. Dedication and time are the two things that you need. And with time, I mean patience. Have the patience and you will succeed. But, you need to find that dedication inside you to succeed and that is the hardest part. We start small, think we’re rock stars, and then one day, we become the rock star because we had the drive and we had the dedication and above all, we had the patience to succeed.
