Theme: Forget the Middle Man - OIO Publisher

August 18, 2007

Say Bye Bye to the Middle Man

You know, if there is one thing that I never liked about certain services, it was how much money they took out of the overall profit. It was as if I had become a partner to them and we were splitting it fifty fifty. Sure, building a relationship is extremely important; however, if there is a way for you to make a profit and build a relationship without having to give half of your hard earned money away, I would highly recommend going that way. Yesterday, I mentioned how I was going to be selling links on this blog and I had explained the importance of using the money you gained to properly reinvest. Well, with there being no middle man, you can obviously see that there’s a good chance profits can tremendously increase.

Created by Simon Emmery, OIO publisher was his way of saying, “I’m done paying half of my money for all of my work.” At least, maybe that’s something that he could have said…I’m not entirely sure since I’m not him. The point is very simple. OIO Publisher was created to allow bloggers the opportunity to effectively sell text-links and reviews without having to give any of their money to a middle man. Simply put, he decided to offer to bloggers the chance to control exactly how much they charge per link/review without losing any of their profits. Effectively, they could sell links for less than they were from the big companies and still make more than they normally would.

OIO Publisher is a plug in that you can install right into your blog and activate it as if you were activating any other plug in. The only difference is that this is not like any other plug in. This is your one stop shop for advertising needs, at least when it comes down to running text-links and reviews on your site. When you install the plug in and activate it, a tab appears on your control panel titled: Business. Found in this tab are the settings for how much you might charge per link, how much per review, what your paypal information is, how many days each link will stay up for and numerous other things.

But, there is more that this tab offers that really blew my mind away. You can manually remove links not by going into the coding, but by a simple click of a button. You can do the same for the reviews. Just looking at this, you can see that for the first time, there is now a system that allows you to keep control of your links without having to manually go into the code and add or remove them. And, on top of that, you now don’t have to worry about sending a bill to people EACH AND EVERY month. The plug in takes care of all of that as well. As you can see…This plug in is your one stop shop if you are looking to sell text links and reviews.

The Marketplace - It’s Weakness

There are two downfalls to this program and they all circle around the marketplace. The first is that there are just not enough offers to really bring people coming back saying, “yeah, I think I can find something worth while here.” The second is that there are just not enough people who know about it to potentially check it out. What I mean is that there are not enough people who are looking to buy links getting to the site. Now, there are ways to fix both of these and I have a few ideas for Simon that I am going to post here for his enjoyment and edification.

To correct the problem with there being too few publishers in the marketplace, Simon needs to really try and figure out some ways to expand his advertising. One sure way that might work is to actually buy links from people within the network. If people were to see that they were actually making some money, theres not a doubt in my mind that they would start to tell other people about it. If they realized that there was money being made, tons more would flock because of the opportunity to make money. Only those that wanted to take a risk tried Adsense at the start. When they realized they were going to make money, tons more people signed up. It’s the same way with this. If people KNOW they are going to make money, they will definitely sign up.

Now, the next thing that Simon needs to worry about primarily is how to get potential ADVERTISERS to the site. Like I said before, if people know they are going to be making money, they will definitely sign up. His current methods of advertising have been good; however, there need to be other ways to try and get OIO known. If there is any money coming in, reinvest it immediately because the more people that know about the site, the more guaranteed publishers that will come in. And with the marketplace bigger, more people might start advertising via the network.

However, the marketplace is set up real nice. The way that it works is simple. For the next few weeks, a listing in the network is free if it is a regular listing. If you want to get a featured listing which will keep you up at the top of the list no matter how many lists there are, all you need to pay is $19.95. Want to get your regular listing for free for the next THREE months? Then just do what I am doing right here and write a review of OIO Publisher, which, might I say Simon, is a great way to try and get more publishers and more potential advertisers to the site. Nice move!

There’s More Money to be Made?

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen. Not only does Simon want to give you a method of making money without having to pay a middle man, but he wants to give you the chance of making some of the money from the listings that people pay for. That means if I were to sign someone up from reading this blog post and they paid for a featured listing, I would get paid. Simon is offering 20% for every listing that someone puts up that you referred to the network. So in reality, Simon is doing some good things to expand the program and he is doing whatever it takes to get the money into our pockets. And that’s smart. When you’re in charge of something like this, the people that run the ads and all of that are some of the most important people.

In Conclusion…

This is by far one of the best things to hit the Wordpress field in a very long time. It offers everything people will need to set up links for people and to make a good amount of money. Rather than having to go out and try and sell your links, this marketplace gives you the opportunity to make money. With their affiliate program, there is even more money to be made for individuals. There have been plug ins before that tried to offer something like this, but there were downfalls. The first was that they cost money and the second was that it was never links and reviews at the same time. This plug in is free and it’s an all in one plug in.

Do I recommend people use this? Damn straight. I think there is a lot of money to be made if Simon can get the Marketplace up and running. If he can really push people to the site, I think that people will really make a good amount of money. With a simple addition to your sidebar (and a little code), you can have links purchased on your site just like that. The truth is, this plug in is something no one will want to miss out on. But if Simon wants this to become something big and something successful, he will need to really devote his time and energy to get the site known. And I think that he is doing the right thing so far to get it big. Consider signing up for OIO Publisher and remember that sometimes, getting rid of the middle man is alright. Sign up.
