Theme: Get the Alexa Toolbar
September 3, 2007I know that I am late in posting this, but I feel that it is extremely important and to ensure that everyone is installing it, I am going to mention it even though it is OLD news. For the longest time, there was no way for anyone who used Firefox to get the Alexa toolbar. Now, why is it important? Because, if someone visits your site using the Alexa toolbar, it helps to increase your ranking. Dorm Earning has dropped 200K in about a week and a half and that is because more and more people are using the toolbar.
This is beneficial because there are a lot of big companies that like to see a low Alexa ranking. While it is slightly biased, by having the ranking, it guarantees that you are getting a lot of traffic. Now, there are a few tips to increasing your Alexa ranking and I’m going to give you those right now, but before I do, I really think that you should download the Alexa toolbar and get it set up if you use Firefox. Now, to help you increase your ranking, here are a few secrets:
- Set your site as your homepage. For whatever reason, Alexa likes this and it helps to increase your Alexa ranking, if only a little. Try and get others to do the same by offering a “set this page as your homepage” button.
- Blog about the toolbar, even if you already have, so that new readers might sign up for it. If everyone visiting your site is using the toolbar, that’ll increase your ranking as well.
- Just genuinely try to get more traffic to the site. If they have the toolbar, you’ll get a better ranking.
It can take time, but the thing to remember is that it is important. By installing the toolbar, you are allowing yourself one other way of trying to show that your site is a bit better. I hope that everyone that reads this installs it because not only will it help your site out when you visit it, but it’ll help mine out too when you visit my site. And, well, that’s always cool! So, install it and see if it helps you get a better ranking. For sites like TLA and ReviewMe, it can make all the difference.
