Theme: Video Game Tournaments
April 16, 2007One of the big things you find in dorm rooms after a bed and a laptop is some sort of a video game console. It’s just expected that you’ll have one. But, who would have thought that you could make money off of that console? Who’d have thought that you could set up a little betting game and make some nice money just by playing games. Assume you have Halo 2. You tell your friends that you’re going to set up a tournament. So, you get eight of your friends to get into the game. You say that it’ll cost them five bucks a person to play and if they win, the winner gets half of the pot, you taking the rest.
You say that you get the rest because the system is yours and you set it up. Now, you set up a tier system so that people either play one on one or all for yourself with four players at once and you begin to knock people off slowly. Either way, you need to make it so that it is a tournament and not just one round. The best way to do that, I think, is to determine how much time you have to play. Are you just going to play for twenty minutes or do you want to play for an hour? Do you want to play for longer?
Here’s how to set it up in one scenario. Get eight friends, or more, the number isn’t exactly important. Get a piece of paper and set up the tier system. Make it so that it’s every man for themselves in a four person game. The last person is knocked off of the tournament for each game and then another game is played, this time with only three people per game. The the same thing occurs again. Do this until you are down to only two players. They duke it out and the winner gets the prize money. It’s a lot of fun and you could make small cash doing it.
